It Started With a Sick Dog

In 2019, our Golden Retriever Cooper was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. The vet told us to switch to "premium dog food." So we did. We tried every brand on the shelf, every "veterinarian recommended" formula. Nothing worked.

Frustrated, we started researching. We learned that most "premium" dog food is made by the same five conglomerates, using the same rendering plants, just in different bags with different marketing budgets. The ingredient lists were legal loopholes, not nutritional choices.

So we did what any reasonable person would do: we quit our jobs, partnered with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, and spent two years building a dog food company that actually does what the label says.

What We Believe

Dogs deserve food made from food. Not from feed-grade byproducts. Not from "4D" meat (dead, dying, diseased, disabled). Not from filler grains dyed to look like meat. Every bag of PureBowl has a batch code. You type it into our website and see the actual test results: where the protein came from, what the mycotoxin levels were, whether any pathogens were detected.

This is not radical. It is what every food company should do. We just happen to be the first premium dog food brand to actually do it.
